When your formerly ‘easy’ child starts pushing back…...
ignoring you
stalling
resisting even simple things
& you feel like you’re repeating yourself all day...
You may even start to wonder:
"Am I losing them?"
Now imagine this:
You say something once - and your child actually follows through.
Not because you reminded them five times…
but because they took ownership.
They’re thinking. Taking initiative. Problem-solving.
You pause and think...
"Wait...is this the same kid?"
What if this isn't defiance, but a signal that your child is ready for more ownership?
This FREE Workshop is for you if...

Inside, you'll finally see why this keeps happening - and how to help your child step up:
Why your child's pushback doesn't mean anything is wrong —and what’s it's actually telling you about exactly where confidence and ownership are ready to grow.
The 3 shifts that help your child start taking initiative, solving problems, and, following through without you needing to stay one step ahead.
Why you keep getting pulled into the same loop—reminding, overdoing, and guilt…while your child stays stuck whining, ignoring, or waiting for you to pick up all the thinking.
The hidden patterns that keep responsibility living with you — and how to shift them so your child starts carrying their share (with confidence).
Here's what starts to change when you stop over-functioning:

See Them Differently
Their resistance won’t feel like defiance. You'll start recognizing what it's telling you about readiness, overwhelm, or a need for more ownership. So, instead of reacting, you’ll know to help them grow the skill beneath the struggle. You're guiding. Not pushing.

Feel Lighter
Transitions are smoother.
Conversations get honest.
Nobody needs to yell because everyone feels heard.
Backpacks are ready.
Homework is remembered.
And you’re no longer frantically digging for soccer cleats on the way out the door.

Respond with Intention
You won’t be guessing.
You’ll know exactly how to respond in ways that help your child take initiative, follow through, and start carrying more of the thinking.
Without pushing. Without power struggles. Without taking over.
You're finally on the same team.

If you're on the fence...
Take a second and imagine this.
A month from now:
You could still be replaying the same arguments in your head, wondering if you’re getting this wrong.
Or…
You could feel steadier.
More calm. More clear.
Your child starts carrying more of the thinking.
Transitions feel smoother.
The follow-through is finally happening.
And you actually enjoy being with your child again.
The shift doesn't happen all at once.
But it does start with one decision.
Maybe it's time for yours.

Meet your host, Alyssa!
I’m Alyssa Smith — parent coach, longtime educator, and mom of two girls in the messy middle years (think: elementary + middle school).
With 17+ years in education, multiple degrees in education and psychology, and training in Positive Discipline, I’ve spent my career helping kids, teachers, and parents grow in confidence, ownership, and connection.
Before coaching, I taught in Montessori and international schools, led workshops for educators, and was recognized globally for championing student agency. But the lessons that shaped this work most? They didn’t happen in a classroom.
They happened on my kitchen floor.
In the moments where parenting collided with grief, burnout, over-functioning, and rebuilding life as a single parent.
That’s where I learned what so many thoughtful parents discover the hard way: doing more for our kids doesn’t always help them grow.
Now, I help parents step out of the over-functioning loop and into a way of parenting that builds confidence, initiative, and real follow-through without everything falling on you.
And I’d love to show you. 💙
